After months of work, and having to rewrite large chunks of the show in response to the pandemic, I’m pleased to say that Season 5 of The 21st Century Creative podcast will launch next Monday.
I’ve got a great line-up of guests and I’ve done my best to offer some helpful perspectives on Covid disruption – what it means for us as creatives, and how we can respond to it.
The pandemic is affecting us all in different ways, and there are 21st Century Creatives living all over the world, so it’s been a challenge to find the words to address everyone’s experience.
But all the ideas I talk about in the new season have been road-tested in my own experience and with my coaching clients, who are facing a range of challenges due to Covid – so I hope there will be things that are relevant and helpful to your situation in Season 5.
And this season I am stepping up my commitment to you, via a Patreon membership group to help you stay focused, motivated, creative and productive in spite of everything.
I’ve been planning to start this group for a while – there’s only one of me, and I only have a few places available for 1-2-1 coaching so there’s a limit to the number of people I can help at a time.
So I wanted to create something that would allow me to help more of you, without the kind of commitment that coaching involves.
And with all the disruption brought by Covid, it feels like a good time to be doing this, given that there are more creatives than usual who could do with some help and encouragement on a smaller budget.
So today I’d like to invite you to join The 21st Century Creative Members’ Group, where I will help you apply the ideas from the podcast to your own creative career or business.
This means that at the start of a new podcast season, I’ll invite you to look ahead at the 10 weeks that the podcast will be running, and set yourself a goal for what you want to achieve during that time.
It could be a new creative project, or a big chunk of an existing project.
It could be launching something new – like a product or a show or even a company.
It could be learning a new skill, or getting started on it.
It could be starting a new habit or practice that will benefit you on a personal or professional level.
It could be a business target – maybe you want to earn a certain amount of money for a specific goal.
I’ll also share my own goal for the same period, and we’ll check in during the season and also at the end, to hold ourselves accountable for progress on our goals.
Plus I’ll be doing Q&A videos, answering questions from members about their goals and challenges, and about issues that are discussed in the podcast episodes.
So if you enjoy the show and you would like my help applying the ideas to your own situation…
Or if there’s a topic I haven’t covered on the podcast, and you want to get my view on it…
Or if you’re facing a challenge or working towards a goal, and you’d like to ask me a question about it… this is your chance.
And to make it as accessible as possible for you, especially right now, I’m launching it on a pay-what-you want basis, with a suggested minimum contribution of just $1 per episode. So hopefully that means if you want to do this, then you can.

Another way to look at the Patreon membership is that it’s a way you can support the show and help me to produce it. Because as I’ve said many times, I can’t do this alone – I’m relying on your help as listeners and advocates for the show.
I hope it’s evident that I spend a lot of time making the show. I reckon for every 1 hour episode it takes me personally at least 6 or 7 hours to research, write, record and edit the material.
I also hire a top-notch production team so that the show sounds as good as possible. And I pay to have the interviews human-transcribed and edited, for accessibility as well as for those of you who prefer to read.
So if you find the show helpful, then by joining the Patreon group you will not only get access to my help, you will also help me produce the show and make it sustainable for the long term.
Hopefully that makes it a win/win for all of us.
