Great Article - I am working on developing a new social network for Canadian Artists, Graphic Designers and Brokers. My goal is two fold - I am going to build one of the most complete online print / design and marketing business directories. I will let my brokers (social network) - rate each business. The social network is build like Facebook - you can add, invite, chat, post, upload, comment, rate. The website is still in development, I plan to develop many great features that will further enhance the artists connections and network.

It's all about building strong networks. I still believe that its who you know and a bit of what you know.

This is by far one of the most thorough analysis of social networking sites I have seen thus far. As for myself, I prefer the niche social networking sites because they provide a space for like minded individuals with common intersts to communicate, as opposed to generic social networking sites. Thanks for the great information!

Good list... what the hell is Behance? Damn... yet another site I'll have to get involved with. Hmm.

And facebook is lame. But then again, myspace is lamer so you can't complain too much. But honestly, do fan pages do anything but exist? A blog page does so much more.
